One booking replaces about ten. An Egypt itinerary usually means stitching together airport pickups, hotel nights, a car south to Abu Simbel and a separate balloon operator in Luxor. This is a single 4-day package that runs from Aswan to Luxor and covers all of it. Hotel transfers are included and accommodation is on the boat, so there is no repacking between cities. An Egyptologist guide handles the temple visits: the High Dam and Philae at Aswan, Abu Simbel on the early run south, Kom Ombo and Edfu as the boat works downriver, then the Valley of the Kings on the Luxor west bank. The balloon flight comes on the last morning, a 5:30 am start above Luxor before the day's sightseeing begins. Meals, a folkloric show and the overnight cabins are part of the boat routine. The trip ends in Luxor around 5 pm with a transfer to a hotel, the train station or the airport. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.

  1. Aswan

A licensed guide from Mody Egypt Tours meets arrivals at Aswan airport, the railway station or a hotel, then an air-conditioned van runs the transfer to the 5 star Nile cruise boat. Check in comes before lunch, which is served on board.

  2. Aswan High Dam

First stop of the tour is the High Dam, completed in 1960 to protect Egypt from flooding and to generate electricity.

  3. Temple of Philae

A small motorboat carries passengers out to the Graeco Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis. Back on the cruise afterwards for dinner, a folkloric show and the overnight.

  4. Temple of Philae

Pickup for the Abu Simbel temples is around 5 am, with the return to Aswan around 1 pm. The boat then sails towards Kom Ombo, with natural views the whole way and photographs to take of both Egyptian and Nubian culture. The stop at Kom Ombo is for its temple. Sailing continues towards Edfu, and the night is spent on board.

  5. Edfu Temple

Breakfast on board, then Edfu temple, reached by horse and carriage. Sailing resumes past local villages on both banks of the Nile, with Egyptian tea on the sun deck and the Esna lock to pass through. Arrival in Luxor is at sunset, in time for the local market and a glass of upper Egyptian sugar cane juice. Another night on board.

  6. Valley of the Kings

Around 5:30 am the hot air balloon lifts over Luxor. The rest of the day covers the west bank: the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. On the east bank come Karnak temple and, as the final stop, Luxor temple. The day ends in Luxor around 5 pm, with a transfer to a Luxor hotel, the train station or Luxor airport.
