Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Tour Over Fairy Chimneys
An audio guide comes with the booking, sent out as soon as the reservation is confirmed, in English, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish or Italian. Bring a headset: the commentary is meant to be heard in the basket, while the valleys it describes pass underneath. On most Cappadocia balloon flights the only soundtrack is the burner. Take-off is at first light over the fairy chimneys, the rock cones the region is known for. Whether you lift off exactly at sunrise or shortly after depends on the morning conditions, and so do the duration and the route. Turkish civil aviation assigns launch sectors and the wind decides the rest. Cappadocia is the most flown balloon destination in the world, and on a clear morning the sky around you fills accordingly. Back on the ground there is a non-alcoholic toast and a certificate with your name on it. Passenger insurance is included. This is the standard, date-specific flight: if weather grounds the balloons the refund is 100 percent, but there is no automatic rebooking for the next morning, and travellers who want that priority book the open-ticket version instead. The Istanbul pickup is early, roughly 03:30 to 04:00, and applies to hotels in the Sultanahmet and Taksim areas. Outbound flights usually leave around 06:30 to 07:00 and land in Cappadocia around 08:00 to 08:30, though times move with availability. Someone meets you inside the domestic terminal with your name on a sign, and the first day runs north until about 16:00 to 17:00: Göreme Open Air Museum, Devrent Valley, Pasabag and Monks Valley, the Three Beauties. Balloons fly at dawn, so an added flight would go early on the second morning, before the 09:45 to 10:00 meeting at hotel reception for the southern half of the region. The return flight leaves Cappadocia between 19:00 and 22:00 and reaches Istanbul between 20:30 and 23:30, where a transfer takes you back to your hotel. The operator states that it runs small group and private tours rather than 40 seat coaches. Note the terms before you book: all sales are final.
