Hot Air Balloon over Florence: Duomo and Arno Views

The Duomo sets the skyline of Florence and the Arno cuts the city in two. From a balloon both are in view at once, which is the specific reason to take this flight instead of one over the Tuscan countryside. Take-off is from Piazza Giuseppe Poggi, beside the river, roughly 100 metres from the car parks inside the square. Wind currents decide the route. The balloon follows them across the city, and the architecture that earned Florence its name as the cradle of the Renaissance is laid out underneath, monument by monument. Part of Chianti and the country around the city pass by as well. Landing happens somewhere else around the city, wherever the wind allows, and the ground staff meet the balloon there and drive everyone back to the take-off field.
