Salamanca Hot Air Balloon Ride Above the Golden City

One hour of flight, and the route follows the River Tormes. Salamanca is built from golden sandstone, so from a basket the city reads warm rather than grey, and the landmarks separate out cleanly at that height: the two cathedrals side by side, the Plaza Mayor as an enclosed rectangle set among the roofs, the Roman bridge laid across the water. The old quarter fills the space between them. Passengers gather at Viveros Florjusa at the arranged time and travel on from there to the launch area, where the balloons are unpacked and inflated. The pilot and ground team speak English. Once the basket leaves the ground the wind takes over, carrying the balloon along the river and out past the historic quarter towards the meadows and the villages on the plain. How far it goes and in which direction depends entirely on the day. The support vehicle tracks the flight and meets the balloon wherever it lands. Afterwards there is a toast with cava and a picnic lunch, and flight certificates are handed out to everyone who flew. The group then returns to the starting point at Viveros Florjusa. A photo report and an HD video of the flight are included in the price, as is the fuel for the balloon and the vehicle. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the start.
