Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon and Red and Green Day Tour

This is a 12-hour day with two halves. It opens before dawn with the hot air balloon flight, because commercial flying in Cappadocia happens at sunrise and Turkish civil aviation holds the sky to 100 balloons airborne at once across the region. The guided tour starts once you are back on the ground, so the valleys you looked down on at first light are the ones you walk into for the rest of the day. The guided half follows the Red and Green routes. Goreme National Park and the Goreme Open-Air Museum come early among the stops. Pasabag and Peri Bacalari hold the tallest of the fairy chimneys, and the cave dwellings nearby show what people cut into the same soft rock. After that: Love Valley, Pigeon Valley and Rose Valley, Uchisar Castle standing over the plateau, Devrent Valley with the camel-shaped rock inside it, a panorama across Goreme, and a stop timed for sunset. Running both halves on one day is the efficient way to see the region, and it puts the weather-dependent part first. Cappadocia launches more balloons than anywhere else, but the fleet only got airborne on 223 mornings in 2025 and 236 in 2024, and the December to April stretch is where most scrubbed flights fall. Book the flight for early in your stay if you can, so there is room to move if the wind keeps everyone on the ground.
