Hotel pickup comes about an hour ahead of take-off, a snack pack arrives from the driver during the transfer, then the launch field, where you catch the last of the inflation before boarding. Take-off is at sunrise, about 30 minutes after the first balloons of the day have gone up, so a good part of the traffic is already airborne and hanging ahead of you when your basket leaves the ground. Clearance comes from Turkish Civil Aviation. About an hour aloft follows. The route holds to the valleys, and 100 or more balloons are usually out at the same time. A champagne celebration waits at the landing site, the flight certificate comes with it, and a vehicle returns you to the hotel. Wind and visibility decide the rest: flying happened on 223 mornings in 2025 and 236 in 2024, with the lost ones weighted towards December through April.
