Hot Air Balloon Ride over Luxor's Open Air Museum

Luxor is called Egypt's open air museum, and nearly everyone sees it from ground level: down inside the tombs, under the columns at Karnak, at the foot of the statues. A balloon flight reverses the angle. From the air the temples read as whole plans, the Nile splits green fields from desert, and the west bank monuments sit in their terrain instead of at the end of a road. The morning starts with pickup from your Luxor hotel and a light breakfast. A motorboat crosses to the West Bank for the launch. Flight time is about an hour, with the early sun throwing the desert into relief and the temples, monuments and tombs of Luxor laid out below the basket. The morning light is what makes the photographs from up there worth the early alarm. Drop-off back at the hotel is included, so no transport has to be arranged around the flight.
