Two ways to see Thebes in one morning: first from the air, then with your feet in the dust. The day opens with a sunrise balloon flight over the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, high enough to read the whole west bank at once, something no ground-level visit can do. After landing, the private tour begins. An English-speaking guide walks you through the pharaohs' tombs in the Valley of the Kings, then on to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at El Deir El Bahari, and finishes at the Colossi of Memnon, the two seated giants where the tour stops for photos. Luxor
Embark on a captivating adventure with an early morning pick-up (around 4:30 am) from your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor. Drive to the River Nile and cross to the West Bank on a motorboat, followed by a transfer to the hot air balloon launch site.
Receive safety instructions
Receive safety instructions, board the shared balloon basket, and ascend for a 30 to 45-minute flight over the West Bank of Luxor. Marvel at the breathtaking aerial views of the landscape and iconic landmarks such as the Ramessum Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon rising from the nearby fields. Capture the stunning sunrise over.
Valley of the Kings
Upon descending, receive a flight certificate and a small gift. Your guide will then take you on a private tour to the West Bank to explore ancient Thebes on foot. Visit the Valley of the Kings, an awe-inspiring burial ground for pharaohs, with the option to explore the tomb of King Tutankhamun.
Temple of Hatshepsut

The balloon then rises hundreds of feet with the sun still low, and that light does the work: vast temples and tall statues take on colour they never have in the middle of the day. Karnak and its complex of temples and chapels lie to the east. To the west is the temple of Hatshepsut, at the foot of the cliffs. The Colossi of Memnon rise from the flat ground, apparently standing guard over the royal tombs, and the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens pass below as well. Scale is the other reason to go up. From a few hundred feet the plan of each temple and the distance between them are visible at once, which no visit on foot gives you, and the guide fills in what each site was built for while it is still under the balloon.
