Tour with Balloon Ride and Visit West Bank Temples in Luxor

A 45-minute flight at dawn and a full guided day on the west bank, bundled into one booking at 61.77 euros. That is a lot of ground for the money. The rating is 5.0, but it rests on 27 reviews, so read it as promising rather than settled. Round-trip transport is part of the price, back to a hotel or a Nile cruise boat at the end. The balloon goes up at dawn. That is the only slot commercial ballooning in Egypt uses, and the Theban west bank is effectively the only place it operates, so what passes below the basket is the necropolis itself, the tombs and temples still in shadow while the cliffs behind them take the light. The ground half starts in the Valley of the Kings, where 63 tombs are cut into the rock. Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el Bahari follows, with the record of her trading expeditions, then a 15-minute stop at the Colossi of Memnon, twin statues in quartzite sandstone. Lunch is in Luxor. The afternoon covers Medinet Habu, built to commemorate Ramses III, an hour in the Valley of the Queens where Nefertari is buried, and the Tombs of the Nobles, which carry more than 400 passages from the Book of the Dead. The listing names Deir el-Medina as well.

  1. Luxor

The balloon goes up as the first sun reaches the horizon and Luxor turns warm-coloured below. The ride lasts 45 minutes and drifts over the ancient sites spread across the city, which is the window in which most people take their photographs.

  2. Valley of the Kings

After the flight the day continues at the Valley of the Kings. There are 63 tombs here, decorated with Egyptian mythology, and this was the burial ground of the pharaohs.

    Costo extra

  3. Temple of Hatshepsut

Next is the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari. The scale of the queen's temple is the first thing you notice, and the guide covers her trading routes and how the structure was built.

    Costo extra

  4. Colossi of Memnon

A 15-minute stop at the Colossi of Memnon. The twin statues stand in quartzite sandstone and are the work of ancient Egyptian stonecutters.

  5. Temple of Medinat Habu

A lunch break in Luxor comes before Medinet Habu. The temple was built to commemorate King Ramses III, and its architecture and its place in the record are what the visit covers.

    Costo extra

  6. Move on to the magnificent Valley of the Queens

On to the Valley of the Queens, where the tomb of the Great Queen Nefertari lies. An hour is spent in this burial place for the wives of pharaohs.

    Costo extra

  7. Tombs of the Nobles

The day ends with a pass by the Tombs of the Nobles, which carry over 400 cryptic passages from the Book of the Dead. After that, a transfer back to your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor.
