Yarra Valley Balloon Flight with Breakfast and Melbourne Pickup
Liberty Balloon Flights picks the launch site each morning according to wind direction, which is why nobody can tell you in advance exactly where you will take off from. The flight lasts an hour, with the pilot working the wind layers to choose a landing spot. Budget four to five hours in the Yarra Valley, plus the drive from Melbourne on top of that. Pickup is a minibus from Russell Court, just up from Federation Square, about an hour each way. Breakfast is continental, back at Rochford Wines. Passengers over 130 kg are asked to contact the operator before booking. The 04:00 meeting time shown on the booking is a placeholder. Real times move with the season and are often earlier; the exact one arrives by SMS or WhatsApp the evening before, so make sure they have the right number.

Rochford Wines Yarra Valley
The Yarra Valley meeting point, where you check in and meet the pilots, the crew and the rest of the passengers. From here the vehicles run out to whichever launch site has been chosen for the morning.
Yarra Valley
Take part in the inflation, then roughly an hour in the air over the Yarra Valley: rolling hills to the east and north, the Yarra winding through the valley below with the wineries and farmland around it. Packing the balloon away afterwards is part of the morning, and it is meant to be enjoyed rather than endured.
Rochford Wines Yarra Valley
After packing up and a short drive back, breakfast at Rochford Wines. Then the drive to Melbourne and the drop-off at Federation Square, where the morning started.
