Distance is measured against the tours we actually sell, not against the nearest airport. Four festivals sit within eighty kilometres of a flight in our catalogue: two of them are within a short drive, and one shares its launch field with flights that run all year.
That closeness changes what the dates mean. For a festival on the other side of the world, the calendar is information; for these four it is planning — the week when accommodation gets scarce, when operators fill up, and when the sky above a place you were already considering looks different from usual.
It cuts the other way too. A festival week is the worst time to want a quiet flight and a short queue, and for some travellers the useful thing these pages provide is the set of dates to avoid.
The list is short on purpose, and it will stay short. Adding a festival here means we sell flights close enough that the dates change what a trip looks like, not that the two happen to be in the same country. Everything else we track — and it is most of what we track — belongs in the calendar, where the reader can judge the distance for themselves rather than being told a festival is nearby when it is a day's drive away.
