Accessible Hot Air Balloon Catalonia from Barcelona
The baskets have doors. That reads as a small detail until you are standing next to a balloon basket that comes up to your chest with no way in except over the side. Camins de Vent states that all of its baskets currently have doors and are accessible, which changes who can realistically book a balloon flight. Anyone with mobility limits should confirm their own requirements with the operator first, and the planning guide on who can fly covers the general rules. The flight lasts 1 hour and climbs to as much as 3,000 feet (900 m). Barcelona is the pickup point and the pickup is optional. The balloon does not go near the city: launches are inland, at fields spread across Catalonia, and the one used depends on the day. Igualada and Manresa fly with Montserrat in view, Vic with the Pre-Pyrenees, Alp with the Pyrenees, and Verges with the Costa Brava and the Mediterranean. Cap de Creus is on the operator's list of what can be seen from up there. After landing there is a toast with biscuits, and every passenger receives a personal flight certificate. One point to weigh before booking: on this product all sales are final, and cancellations are not refunded.

European Balloon Festival 2027, Igualada: 8-11 July
5.0 (1) 5.0 stars out of 5, 1 reviewsEvery July the festival field at Igualada fills with balloon envelopes laid out flat on the grass before sunrise. The European Balloon Festival has been held there since 1997 and is the biggest event of its kind in Spain. This booking covers the 2027 edition, on 8, 9, 10 and 11 July, with a place in a basket among the balloons instead of a spot on the spectator field. Flights go up early in the morning, when conditions are steadiest and the views over Igualada are clearest. Igualada sits in central Catalonia, about 40 minutes from Barcelona, so the flying happens well inland and the city is where the drive out begins. The balloon stays up for an hour and climbs to around 3,000 feet (900 m), with Montserrat in view and some 40 other balloons in the same patch of sky. On the ground the festival draws more than 25,000 spectators across its run, with balloons of different shapes and sizes from around Europe and the world, competition flights, music concerts, workshops for children, a photography contest and the Night Glow, when the burners light up the envelopes after dark. Once the balloon lands, wherever the wind has taken it, there is a cava toast with pastries and a personal flight certificate. Camins de Vent, the operator, says it has more than 20 years of experience flying across Catalonia, and sends the pictures of the activity by email.

Free cancellationHot Air Balloon and Sailing Day Trip from Barcelona
5.0 (5) 5.0 stars out of 5, 5 reviewsThe day splits in two. First the air: 1 hour and 15 minutes in a balloon basket over the Catalan countryside, where the wind around Montserrat sets the speed and the direction the flight takes. The balloon does not go up over the city. Launch fields are inland, and Barcelona is where the group meets and where the day ends. Once the basket is back down there is Cava to toast the flight, a flight certificate for each passenger and time to take pictures. Then the sea. The crew drives the group to Marina Vela, and the boat sails for 2 hours along the Mediterranean coast with drinks and snacks on board. The city looks different from the water. Hotel W marks the end of the shoreline, Montjuic rises behind with its castle and gardens, Port Vell sits further along with its maritime traffic, and the Columbus Monument is visible as the boat passes. Barceloneta Beach runs along the sand, and the Sagrada Familia is in view from the sea. The meeting point is Carrer de Bergara 4, in front of Regina Hotels and a few minutes on foot from Plaza Catalunya. The activity finishes at Marina Vela, mooring 69, on Passeig Joan de Borbó. Cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time and the refund is full.

Free cancellationHot Air Balloon Ride Catalonia with Barcelona Pickup
4.9 (628) 4.9 stars out of 5, 628 reviewsThe drive out of Barcelona takes 30 to 45 minutes and the balloon is off the ground early, climbing to as much as 3,000 feet (900 metres). Flying time runs between 1 and 1.5 hours. Of the Catalan flights sold from the city, this one carries by far the most feedback: 4.9 from 628 reviews. The launch field is inland, near Vic, and that is the part worth being clear about. The balloon does not fly over Barcelona. The city is where the van collects you. What passes underneath is Catalan farmland, scattered masies and the medieval street plan of Vic's old town. On a clear morning the view reaches the Pyrenees, Montserrat, the Montseny massif and the Mediterranean, and Barcelona itself can show up on the horizon. The optional city centre pickup covers the roundtrip transfer to the flying area, with a stop at a Catalan cafeteria on the way out. Landing is followed by a Champagne brunch. Anyone who wants longer in the air can take the 2-hour flight instead, and there is a private option with the pilot.
