Pamukkale Sunrise Balloon Flight over the Travertines, with Transfer
Hotel pickup is included and free, and the drop-off is timed to get you back before breakfast has been cleared away. The flight lasts an hour, and the booking guarantees a place on the first sortie of the morning. That matters more than it sounds. Balloons here go up in waves, and only the first wave is airborne while the sun is actually coming up; the later group sees the same travertines in ordinary daylight. What passes underneath is the white terraces of Pamukkale, the thermal pools that built them, and the ruins standing on the plateau above. On the ground afterwards the crew sets out a table for a toast, and flight certificates are handed out. Booking direct also skips the mark-up added by hotel desks and street offices, which is the operator's own point and a fair one.

Pamukkale
After the hotel pickup, the ground crew inflates the balloon in front of you. Cold air first, then the burner. The envelope goes from flat fabric on the ground to standing upright in a few minutes, and that is when the morning starts to feel real.
Pamukkale
The flight runs about an hour, anywhere between low over the white travertines and several thousand feet up. Once airborne the pilot points out what is passing below: the terraces, the ancient city of Hierapolis, the Pool of Cleopatra and the Roman theatre.
Pamukkale Thermal Pools
A low pass over the Pamukkale thermal pools. If the wind allows it, the pilot brings the balloon in close and holds it beside them.
Hierapolis & Pamukkale
The ruins of Hierapolis from above: the Roman theatre, the Temple of Apollo, the necropolis with its tomb structures, the archaeology museum and the Plutonium cave.
Pamukkale
Back on the ground, the crew sets up a table for the toast, and flight certificates are handed out afterwards.
