Vic Hot Air Balloon Ride, Osona and the Pre-Pyrenees

The Plana de Vic is the wide valley floor at the centre of Osona, and the Pre-Pyrenees rise along the far edge of it. That is the ground the balloon spends its time above. The meeting point is Carrer del Mas d'Osona, in Vic itself, roughly 70 km inland from Barcelona, so this is a flight you travel out to rather than one that collects you in the city. Catalan balloons do not go up over Barcelona, and this one starts further from it than most. Arrive at the scheduled time and the group moves on to the launch site from there. The envelope is inflated on the ground in front of you before anyone climbs in. Once the basket is up, the Pre-Pyrenees fill in along the horizon and the valley opens out underneath, with Tavertet among what is in view. The toast is taken in the air rather than after landing. Cava is poured in the basket, with juice and biscuits. A camera is provided on board for photographs. After the descent a 4x4 is waiting to drive the group back to the starting point. The price is 195 euros. The rating is 4.5, but it rests on two reviews, which is not enough to lean on: other Catalan flights listed here have hundreds behind their scores. Weigh the launch site instead. Very few balloon tickets put you on the Osona plain.
