Teotihuacan Balloon Flight with La Gruta Breakfast and Pyramids Tour
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
Mexico CityTwo departure slots. The 5:00 am flight goes up at dawn. The 7:00 am flight starts only once the first balloons are back, somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00 am, so it is worth booking that one only when the 5:00 am slot is full. Three packages sit behind the same listing, and what changes is everything around the flight. All-inclusive: round-trip transport from Mexico City with pickup from hotels, Airbnb and other addresses within 4.5 km of the Angel of Independence, a 35 minute flight, breakfast at the La Gruta restaurant, the craft shop, and a guided tour of the archaeological zone with certified bilingual guides. Flight only: the cheapest of the three. You make your own way to the Balloon Airport Aerostat. Flight, grotto and round trip: a shorter morning that keeps the La Gruta breakfast. Pickup within 4.5 km of the Angel of Independence, a 35 minute flight, breakfast, and the return to the Angel. Whether the balloon passes over the pyramids or close to the archaeological site depends on the wind.
What's included
- Traveler insurance during balloon flight
- Upon arrival at the reception you can enjoy coffee, tea and cookies, included in the purchase of any package.

Mexico City
4:10 am to 4:50 am: pickup at your hotel or Airbnb, as long as it is within 5 km of the Angel of Independence. Punctuality matters, since several pickups are made in the same vehicle. For the 7:00 am slot, pickup falls between 5:00 am and 6:30 am, and shifts with the sunrise through the year now that Mexico has dropped daylight saving time.

6:00 am to 6:15 am: arrival at the launch field. Take-off comes minutes after sunrise, with the archaeological zone in view from the moment the balloon leaves the ground and other balloons rising alongside it. Flying above the archaeological zone depends on the weather, which sets the wind direction. This is a shared balloon. The 7:00 am slot waits on the return of the 5:00 am sunrise flight, so it starts between 7:30 and 8:00 am. Book it only if the 5:00 am slot is full: balloons come back at different times depending on where they land and how the morning goes. It exists for people who found the earlier slot sold out and are on their last days in Mexico City.
After you balloon flight you will be taken to restaurant la…
After the flight comes La Gruta, a restaurant inside a natural cave, for breakfast and the view that goes with it. The photo by the entrance with your group is worth taking.
