Two packages: flight only, or the complete package. With transport included, pickup runs between 4:30 and 4:50 am and gets you to Teotihuacan around 5:30. Coffee and cookies come first, then registration. The flight lasts roughly 40 to 50 minutes, weather depending. Worth knowing before you go up: the pilot controls the ascent and the descent, and nothing else. The wind decides the rest. On landing there is footage to watch, shot with professional drones and cameras. Breakfast follows, in the form your package specifies. The rest of the morning stays on the ground. A tasting of tequila and pulque comes with a short explanation of obsidian and maguey. Then an hour among the ruins, on your own, with the Pyramid of the Moon open to climb. Back at the meeting point, the transfer returns you to your hotel. The tour itself wraps up around noon, and arrival back in the city falls between 1:00 and 2:00 pm.

Itinerary

  1. Carretera federal Mexico Tulancingo, Francisco Villa MZ 002, San Martin, centro, San Martín de las Pirámides

A large venue with the logo lit up outside, and tables under blue umbrellas on the terrace.

  2. We will pick you up at the hotel or Airbnb you requested

Pickup is at the hotel or Airbnb you gave when booking. The pickup radius covers 10 km around the historic centre. Anything outside that, and the pickup point becomes the Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel, which is the meeting point.

  3. These are our facilities

The facilities. Without the full package, arrive by 6:00 am under your own steam. With it, pickup happens before 5:00 am. On arrival there is check-in, a safety video, and time for coffee and cookies.

  4. San Martin de las Piramides

The balloon flight lasts roughly 45 to 60 minutes and depends entirely on the weather. The pilot does not steer: direction is the wind's business, and only the ascent and descent are under control. A drone films the flight, so wave when it passes.

  5. If you chose the cave option, this is the restaurant for you

The cave option leads here, to a restaurant set inside a completely natural cave. Breakfast underground is the point of it.

  6. If you picked the buffet option

The buffet option leads here instead, to a wide spread plus a live station turning out fresh quesadillas, omelettes and eggs cooked the way you ask for them.

  7. Piramides De Teotihuacan

Into the archaeological zone. Entrance is not included and costs 5 USD per person. Inside are the pyramids, the temples, the Avenue of the Dead and the pre-Hispanic museum.

    Costo extra

  8. San Juan Teotihuacan

A short introduction to what comes later at the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, with cultural context, plus a tasting of pulque and xoconostle liqueur. A local artisan explains obsidian, maguey and the precious stones worked here.
