Itinerario

  1. Abu Simbel Temple

Pickup is around 5 am, the exact time depending on where your hotel sits in Aswan, for the road to Abu Simbel, one of the most important temples in the country. Back in Aswan you check in on the boat and sailing starts. Lunch is served on board. The first stretch out of the port is slow work: the captain, usually wearing a galabeya, the everyday dress of men in Upper Egypt, edges past the other cruisers and the motorboats before the river opens up. After that you see Aswan from the water, islands on both banks, small fishing boats, villages along the edge. The boat passes the Nubian islands, where children play by the water and men and women work the green fields. There is plenty to photograph without leaving the deck. A disco party runs in the evening. Overnight on board.

    Costo extra

  2. Kom Ombo Temple

Tea on the sun deck while the boat moves. The stop at Kom Ombo comes around sunset. It is a double temple, unusual in Egypt, standing in the town of Kom Ombo in Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt, and it went up under the Ptolemaic dynasty between 180 and 47 BC. The southern half belongs to Sobek, the crocodile god of fertility who made the world alongside Hathor and Khonsu. Back on board afterwards, sailing continues. Overnight on the boat.

    Costo extra

  3. Edfu Temple

Breakfast first, then a horse and carriage from the mooring into Edfu. The Temple of Horus is one of the best preserved in Egypt and one of the most admired, Ptolemaic like Kom Ombo. Back on board the boat turns north for Luxor, a long stretch of river with the banks sliding past and a local drink on the sun deck if you want one. Arrival in Luxor is around 8 pm. Overnight on the boat, moored in Luxor.

    Costo extra

  4. Luxor

The balloon flies at first light over Luxor. You leave the boat after breakfast. From the basket the west bank and the river lie open below you, which is the photograph most people come for. After that a transfer takes you to your hotel, the train station or Luxor airport. Optional add-ons on request: the Valley of the Kings on the west bank, or Karnak on the east. End of service.
